Arizer Solo VS Wispr by Iolite
The Wispr is getting a lot of attention since its release a short time ago. Most of this attention comes to the fact that it is made by Oglesby & Butler, who are the creators of the Iolite, which is still one of the most popular portable vaporizers today. As opposed to the Vapir NO2 comparison, these vapes are very similarly priced, but is the Wispr getting by on name alone? Read on to find out.

Vapor Quality
The Arizer Solo delivers dense, smooth vapor that you could easily be confused with vapor generated by a premium table top vaporizer, like the Extreme Q for example. The Wispr on the other hand, while better than most, has a bit of an airy feel to its vapor. Both vaporizers are effective but the Wispr by Iolite produces thinner vapor overall leaving the Solo as the more efficient vaporizer and clear winner in this category.
Advantage: Arizer Solo
Construction/Build
The Wispr, similar to the Iolite, has a polycarbonate design. The difference is the Wispr now has more of a straight rectangle design, as opposed to the curved and rounded design the Iolite had. It actually kind of looks like a walkie talkie. To me this is a disadvantage, the curved design made it more comfortable when you put it in your pocket. As far as durability you have polycarbonate, which isn’t the strongest material for a portable vape. The Arizer Solo of course having an aluminum design that is tough as nails.
The Arizer Solo and Wispr by Iolite side-by-side.Now something that has to be pointed out is the Solo’s glass mouthpiece compared tot he Wispr’s silicone whip mouthpiece. Obviously the glass is less durable, but helps deliver a superior vapor quality so where the Solo is overall more durable, the Wispr’s mouthpiece is the only part more durable than the Solo. The advantage here still goes to the Solo since the mouthpiece durability is a trade off for vapor quality.
Advantage: Arizer Solo
Portability/Size
The Solo and Wispr are similarly sized, but have very different shapes. The Solo takes on kind of a tube design, where as the Wispr is basically a small rectangle. Neither are exactly comfortable while in your pocket and the Solo’s glass mouthpiece adds an additional piece to carry around that isn’t super fragile because it is thick cut glass, but still not something you want to transport in your pocket. The Wispr on the other hand has a silicon mouthpiece that folds down to contour the Wispr, making it easier to fit in your pocket or bag. So the Solo is more durable than the Wispr, however, there is no denying the Wispr is easier to transport.
Advantage: Wispr
Heat Up Time
First it has to be stated the Wispr does not have temperature control, it only allows you to vaporizer at approximately 350° Fahrenheit, where as the Solo allows you to pick from 7 different temperatures. Temp level 2 on the Solo is 365° Fahrenheit, which represents the closest temperature level to the Wispr, so I will be using that heat level for the heat up comparison.
The Wispr took a hair over 2 and a half minutes to heat up to its preset temperature and the Solo took only 2 minutes almost on the dot to heat up to temperature level 2. So clearly the Solo has the faster heat up time. When going past temperature level 2 you are looking at about 2 and a half minutes for heat up to temp level 4, which seems to be the most popular level. Having the option to go past 350° is very important here.
Note: Both vaporizers were heated up starting at room temperature. Heat up times outdoors in different temperature conditions could vary heat up time.
Advantage: Arizer Solo
Accessories and Advanced Use
We are still waiting for some Arizer Solo accessories to become available and the Wispr is new as well so we have yet to see any accessories for that yet either. Since comparing the Solo and NO2 it remains true that the Solo can be used with your water tool of course, but there is also now a new and absolutely awesome vape case for the Solo. While it may not enhance the use of the Solo any it does, however, make transporting the Solo extremely easy and safe. To me the water tool use and case put it over the top.
Advantage: Arizer Solo
Bottom Line
All things considered the Arizer Solo still remains the champ, although the Wispr by Iolite was a worthy adversary to say the least. Since they are virtually the same price I only recommend the Wispr over the Solo if you will be carrying it in your pocket constantly. And I mean constantly. Otherwise the Arizer Solo is the way to go.

Made in Canada by Arizer, the Solo Portable Vaporizer is manufactured using only the highest quality components and materials. Unlike many other vaporizers that utilize plastic or vinyl tubing, the Arizer Solo Vaporizer uses high quality borosilicate glass for providing the ultimate vaporizing experience. This allows the user to really “taste” the vapor created from your aromatherapy blends. Most other portable vaporizers utilize a relatively small herb chamber, which can restrict the amount of vapor inhaled by the user. This can make for a rather unsatisfying and frustrating vaporizing experience. However, the Arizer Solo Vaporizer utilizes an extra-wide herbal chamber. By allowing more hot air to pass over your herbs, the vapor produced by the Arizer Solo is more robust and flavorful. Each unit comes with a 2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty that covers any defect related to the heating element.
